My journey in design
I was always very techy.
I started taking design classes in high school (shoutout to my mentor, Mr. McCain!). In university, I studied computer science thinking this would be a really fun industry where I could collaborate and bring big ideas to life.
For some years, I had the incredible opportunity to teach coding and design across Western Canada for a wonderful non-profit and later, a community makerspace. I taught kids and teens in the classroom as well as co-led teacher training workshops. The daily rhythms of sharing and learning kept me in such a state of feeling inspired and grateful.
As much as this filled my cup, I craved a deeper dive into design. I transitioned to design roles, working for all kinds of businesses on everything from advertising and social media to signage, conference materials, presentations, email marketing, and websites!
I loved the design work and was happy for these opportunities, but something was missing. Communication sometimes got lost, and questions went unasked. I realized that I wanted to collaborate directly with the businesses I was designing for—to understand their unique value and help bring their vision to life.
So, I started my business to partner with these incredible businesses.
